Lion dance

 On Wednesday our class did a lion dance. It was a Chinese lion costume that we had to wear it. It was a 2 person costume. One person had to wear the head and in that case it was me. The other person had to put on some pants and the back of the lions body. If your short I don't recommend being the head because you have to hold the head with your hand/elbow and it hurts alot and you have to pull the eye lids/ eye lashes down and it hurts. But also being the back is weird because if you fall down you pull the person in the front down and the person in the front can't move.

Otaki Youth Space

 On Wednesday we had some guests in our class. It was KCDC they were asking us what youth space we want in Otaki. I think for a good youth space in Otaki would be behind the pools there is a huge field and at the back there is a bike track and a path way and the whole thing is under trees it would be a nice youth space. 

On Wednesday they came in and they set up all of these stations for us. It was like 3 things that you need and 1 thing that you want. There were like 4-7 stations and we had to do all of them. It was like things that you want in Otaki everyone put like Kmart or more takeaway places. They basically just wanted to know what we wanted more in Otaki. 

My Youth Space would have a TV, it would have a lot of food (a lot of dairy free chocolate), 

Rocket challenge

We did a rocket challenge! We had to get some 1.5l bottles and we also had a rocket launcher. We also had a bike pump so we could blow some air into the bottles we had to get a bucket full of water. We had to fill some of the bottle with water so it was not to light. We had to add just the right amount of water and air other wise the bottle would go crazy or it would not even launch and the bottle would just explode! We had 6 groups you will be able to see the psi they used and the ML they used. My group did 60 psi and 150ML I would say our one did pretty good!

Literacy Research Cards

 Over the last few weeks, one of our Literacy tasks has been to complete some mini research cards. Here are mine. 

Boats

 

We are making boats we are going to race them on water. to keep it from sinking I am going to put some plastic on the bottom of the boat and hope that it does not sink. I think mine might sink but we will see what happens.  I hope this will work the sail might fall. But lets hope not. I will build on the design over time but this is what I have so far. The base of the boat will be made out of cardboard and plastic the plastic is so the cardboard will not turn all soggy and sink. The sail will be made out of cardboard and plastic as well. I will have a skewer to hold the sail. And the little keels  will be so the boat can float better.
